CIVIL RIGHTS

My experience representing defendants in criminal cases has often forced me to question the circumstances in which a person is arrested and charged.  In many cases, as part of my representation I feel the need to not only defend the criminal case, but also to challenge the process that led to the charges and the way the police conducted the investigation and arrest.  State and Federal law provides a mechanism to challenge the arrest and detention process.  You have important constitutional and civil rights.  If the authorities violate those rights, they are subject to money damages in a civil suit.  These rights are sacred; they are what separate us from other countries.  Some of the civil rights violations are as follows:

  • Illegal arrest
  • False Imprisonment
  • Excessive force
  • Improper search and seizure
  • Malicious prosecution
  • Lack of probable cause
  • Conspiracy to violate rights
